"Success with style,
energy and enthusiasm"

Kara Horton

Account Executive and Coalition Director: Regulatory Improvement Council, Trade Association Liaison Councils & New Majority Society

Kara Horton is the newest addition to the Valis Associates team. As an assistant account executive, she is at the beck and call of Valis Associate’s energy and railroad clients on issues of tax, trade, environment and deregulation. Kara is the director of the Coalition for Open Markets and Expanded Trade (COMET) and a firm believer in free and fair trade policy. As a tri-athlete, artist and violinist, she brings discipline, energy and creativity to the Valis team. She also demonstrates patience and persistence both in the office and on the golf course.

Kara grew up on Mount Desert Island in Maine. Despite her small town upbringing, she appears to be adjusting to the city quite well. She attended Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY, majoring in Political Science and Environmental Studies. She graduated Cum Laude and is a member of the National Political Science Honors Society. While at the Colleges, she was an active member in the HWS Votes initiative to register and educate HWS students and studied in Romania, Germany, Hungary, Japan and Washington, DC. In her spare time, she is a food and beverage consultant and vested owner in Bassa Cocina and Spot Grill Restaurants in Northeast Harbor and Bar Harbor, Maine.
